Cortizo Inaugurates its Technological Campus as an International Reference in Facade Engineering

Cortizo Inaugura su Campus Tecnológico como Referente Internacional en Ingeniería de Fachadas

Cortizo has officially opened its new Technological Campus, an ambitious project covering 25,000 m², located just a few meters from its main headquarters in Padrón, as announced on its website.

This initiative represents an investment of 40 million euros, focused on facade engineering, with the goal of developing bespoke building envelopes for major projects around the world. Over 250 professionals, including architects, technical architects, and engineers, will work at the campus.

The inauguration event was led by Alfonso Rueda, President of the Xunta de Galicia, alongside María Jesús Lorenzana, Regional Minister of Economy and Industry, and the mayors of Padrón and Rois, among other dignitaries. During the presentation, Miriam Cortizo, the project’s director and architect, explained that the Technological Campus is becoming a “hub of innovation and training in the heart of rural Galicia.” The creation of this campus aims to address the lack of infrastructure and specialized personnel that has hindered Cortizo’s ability to meet the growing demand for bespoke facade solutions.

The Technological Campus is equipped with advanced technology to carry out tests under extreme conditions, such as hurricanes and earthquakes, and it has a strong academic focus on training new talent. Each project will be led by a senior architect, technical architect, or engineer, who will bring junior graduates into the team to provide them with specialized experience in facade engineering. Once a project is completed, these young professionals will move on to lead new teams, promoting knowledge transfer.

Alfonso Rueda praised Cortizo’s commitment to research and innovation, calling it fundamental to the future. He also highlighted the job opportunities the new campus will generate, helping to create high-value employment and retain Galician talent in the fields of engineering and architecture.
